The Barnstable Zoning Portal, provided by OpenCounter, is an interactive, web-based mapping tool designed to make local zoning and other regulations accessible to the public. Barnstable Zoning Portal shows lot-by-lot land use details, including all overlay districts, to help applicants to understand what uses are allowed where.
The Barnstable Zoning Portal helps businesses understand how the Town's Zoning Ordinance will impact site selection and project requirements. This tool is for research purposes only, and those interested in a property or opening a business should consult with the Town of Barnstable staff early in the planning process.
Interpreting the Results
We strive to provide accurate results with this new tool, but there is no substitute for talking with one of Barnstable's knowledgeable planners, who are available to answer all questions related to starting a business in our community. Any results you receive from the Zoning Portal should be checked with a Town Planner prior to taking any action on a property.
