Independence Day brings with it plenty of July 4th festivities in town. 

Details on all the festivities and parking information is listed below.

TUESDAY, JULY 3, 2012

Osterville Parade starting at 11:00AM

Presented by the Wianno Club (Junior Activity)

The parade route will begin on Washington Avenue, take a right on Webster

Street; turn right onto Sea View Avenue; turn right onto Warren Street, and right

onto Washington Avenue where the parade will end.

 

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 2012

Parades and Other Daytime Events:

 

 

Barnstable Village Parade starting at 9:00 a.m.

Presented by the Barnstable Village Civic Association

and the West Barnstable Civic Association

The Barnstable-West Barnstable July 4th Parade and Celebration will commence

at 9:00 a.m. at the County Complex on Railroad Avenue with an 8:30 am

gathering time; proceed down Main Street (Route 6A); left onto Mill Way and

continue to the Village Hollow where it will end for various activities.

 

Centerville - Parade starting at 10:00 a.m.

Presented by the Bay Lane PTA at Centerville Elementary School and Centerville

Civic Association

The parade will form on the grounds of Centerville Elementary School and

proceed up Bay Lane, take a right onto Bumps River Road; left onto Park

Avenue; right onto Main Street; and continue to the Centerville Recreation

Building where it will end.

 

Cotuit Parade starting at 11:00 a.m.

Presented by the Cotuit Civic Association

The parade will begin at the Cotuit Post Office, proceed down School Street to

Main Street; left on Main Street to the rear entrance of the Cotuit Elementary

School, where it will end.

 

Hyannisport –Parade starting at 11:00 a.m.

Presented by the West Beach Club

The parade will begin at the Hyannisport Post Office on Longwood Avenue; left

onto Washington Avenue; right onto Lafayette Avenue; left onto Winchester

Avenue; left onto Scudder Avenue; and continue onto Dale Avenue to the West

Beach Club, where it will end. A Road Race starting at 9:00 a.m. at Hyannisport Post Office precedes the parade.

 

Hyannis Harbor-boat parade around 1:30PM

Hyannis Harbor is ready to celebrate our Country’s birthday! Sponsored by Hyannis Marina, view boats adorned in red white and blue, with flags flying high and proud at Hyannis Inner Harbor around 1:30PM.  (Boats leave Hyannis Yacht Club at 1PM) where the boats will circle in and around the harbor three or four times to show off their pride. Boaters can tune into VHF 72.

 

HyannisParade starting at 4 p.m.

America the Beautiful”

Presented by Town of Barnstable 4th of July Parade Committee

Hyannis Main Street – This year’s parade features several bands including local

High School marching bands, Berke McKelvey and his Oompah Band, Erik’s

Steel Drum Band, the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, Sara Leketa & the

Problematix, Jo & Co, Mike Dumas and Platform Soul and more. Parade Grand

Marshal – Kathleen Schatzberg, recently retired Cape Cod Community College

President. Come early, shop and dine on Main Street. Kids are welcome to join

in with their decorated bikes –the Greater Hyannis Civic Association is

sponsoring a contest. Meet at the Village Green Bandstand at 3PM to

participate. Parade marchers will queue up on Old Colony Road to Ocean

Street. Parade officially begins at Ocean and Main Street and ends at Sea

Street.

 

Special After Parade / Before Fireworks Concerts:

Immediately following the Hyannis Parade, the Barnstable Town Band will play a free concert on the Hyannis Village Green from 5:30 to 7 pm.

 

The Mike Dumas Band and Platform Soul will perform a free concert on Aselton Park at 7 pm until dusk. Tune into 95.1WXTK for a coordinated musical soundtrack during the fireworks.

 

The fireworks will be on Wednesday July 4th (no rain date) set to go off at dusk, with the main viewing locations at Aselton Park, Bismore Park and Veteran’s Park Beach, Hyannis. Kalmus Beach will be available for handicapped parking only.

 

Fireworks Parking (Barnstable): A Parking Ban will be in effect South of

South Street (Ocean Street, Old Colony Boulevard, Gosnold Street and all

streets running off of Gosnold Street) from 5 p.m. to midnight to allow for

pedestrian access. Parking will be available in the North Street parking lots and

Town Hall parking lot. Tow Zones Strictly Enforced. Carpooling suggested.

NO VENDORS ALLOWED.

 

Parade Parking:

July 4th– Parking Ban from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Main Street, Hyannis.

Main Street and South Street will be closed to motor vehicle traffic. Also all

of Main Street; Old Colony Road and Ocean Street from South Street to

Main Street will be closed to motor vehicle traffic beginning at 3 p.m.
