Cell Phone Recycling

Mass Recycle is Offering a Cell Phone Donation Program

According to Charitable Recycling ( www.charitablerecycling.com ), by the year 2005, there will be 500 million stockpiled used cell phones weighing over 250,000 tons that could potentially enter our waste stream.

MassRecycle recently joined Charitable Recycling's Cell Phone Donation Program. Does your old cell phone need a new home? Donate it to MassRecycle through Charitable Recycling's cell phone recycling program. All cell phones, regardless of age or condition, will be accepted. MassRecycle will receive a monetary donation for each phone received.

Donated used cell phones will be refurbished and put to further use. Many phones are donated to shelters for abused adults and children so they may have 911 (emergency only) communication. Charitable Recycling also provides cell phones to medical patients who are awaiting organ transplants. Also, some of the phones we receive are refurbished and redeployed in areas of the world where there are no land (wire) lines, or, where the cost of a new phone is prohibitive. Phones that cannot be refurbished or donated will be recycled and disposed of in an environmentally-responsible manner.

How to Donate Your Cell Phone to MassRecycle:

1. Deactivate your cell phone.
2. Prepare your cell phone(s) in a box or padded envelope. (Please include the manual(s), battery(s) and charger(s) if you have them.) 3. Click on "Please Donate Now" (envelope icon) at top of MassRecycle's home page: http://www.massrecycle.org
4. Click on the Packing List label icon to generate the Charitable Recycling Packing List which must be completed and included with every shipment of cell phones. 5. Click on the shipping label icon to generate a shipping label. 6. Do donate to MassRecycle, please make a note on the label. 7. Click on the Uncle Sam Hat to generate a donation receipt.

Pickup and delivery is always FREE for 50+ cell phones!

Stay Tuned - MassRecycle is looking into setting up collection depots across Massachusetts. We will update our website when collection locations are in place.
