New
Abutter List Program Now Available on the Town Web
Site
Continue>>
The Information Technology Department is pleased to announce the release
of a new software program on the Town web site that generates
abutter
notification lists, maps, and mailing labels.
The
notification of abutters is necessary for many projects that go
before Town boards and commissions such as the Zoning Board of
Appeals, the Conservation Commission, and the Historic
Commission. This new program provides a convenient way for
residents to generate their own abutter notification lists right
on the Town web site. As part of the new program, users can
generate abutter maps, mailing lists, and mailing labels in
Adobe PDF format as well as download abutter lists in Microsoft
Excel spreadsheet format.
The new
abutter program is an enhancement to the GIS mapping application
that has been on the web site since July. This GIS mapping
application offers interactive maps of the Town with many
different map layers such as parcels, buildings, roads,
topography, zoning, and aerial photographs. Users are able to
zoom in and out, turn map layers on or off, and click on parcels
to display detailed property information. Additional features
include:
-
Printable PDF maps with a scale bar
- A
variety of town-wide aerial photographs dating back to 1938
- A
variety of map layers allowing users to create custom maps
It is
highly recommended that new users read the updated
“Help” document to familiarize themselves with the new
features of the abutter program.
It is also
important to note that the abutter lists generated on the
Town website are not considered to be “Certified Lists of
Abutters.” Depending on the requirements of the particular
department, board, or commission with which you are filing, you
may be required to have the abutter list certified by the
Assessing office. If a certified abutter list is required, you
must submit the abutter map and list to the Assessing office for
certification. If you are unsure of the requirements for your
filing, please check with the appropriate town department.
