10-03-02 – 81015 – Maintenance Custodian, Hyannis Youth &
Community Center:
Semi skilled manual work
involving responsibility for the care and maintenance of the
Hyannis Youth and Community Center; all other related work
as required. High School Diploma or equivalent. One year
experience in maintenance and construction/industrial
equipment operation. Any equivalent combination of
education and experience. One year of experience in
clerical or maintenance work; or any equivalent combination
of education and experience. Class D driver’s license
required. Ability to obtain pesticide license within
probationary period may be required. General knowledge of
cleaning materials and methods. General knowledge of large
and small machine operations. Ability to perform moderately
physical labor. Ability to safely operate ice machine, hand
tools, and power equipment. Ability to perform moderate
physical labor. Ability to operate Zamboni. Ability to
maintain accurate and detailed records, and prepare routine
and special reports. Basic skills in performing

10-03-06 – 62012 Temporary Meter Officer,
Consumer Affairs:
Responsible for performing
special law enforcement work including traffic control and
the tagging of parking and traffic violators. Also
responsible for collecting and accounting for coins from
parking meters and for performing minor repairs to defective
parking meters. High school diploma is required.
Completion of basic training in law enforcement principles
and practices is also required. Possession of a valid
Massachusetts Class D Drivers License is required. Working
knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices.
Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic computations;
ability to understand and interpret instructions and provide
guidance and instructions to others. Basic knowledge of
traffic control measures and techniques; ability to perform
duties under adverse environmental conditions. Use of
courtesy and tact and diplomacy in working with members of
the general public. Ability to work independently and to
prepare periodic reports. Ability to make minor mechanical
repairs to parking meters. Strong verbal skills.
Proficiency in the use of computers including word
processing, spreadsheets, and database. Position is
required to work a variety of different shifts including

Seasonal Natural Resource Officer (Sandy Neck), Marine &
Environmental Affairs: Regulatory and technical work
monitoring beach use for compliance with regulations
governing the Sandy Neck Barrier Beach including site
specific rules, applicable town ordinances, and state and
federal laws. Provide detailed information about
environmental processes and resource management at Sandy
Neck. REQUIRED TO WORK ALL WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS THROUGHOUT
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT, and a variety of shifts, some beginning
before 7:00 a.m., some extending beyond midnight. May be
subjected to extremes of weather. High School graduation
with college level coursework in resource management, parks,
environmental science, teaching, criminal justice, or
related field; two (2) years experience in resource
management, security, or nature education preferred; or any
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in First Aid and C.P.R. required; L.G.T.,
First Responder, Wilderness, or other advanced medical
certification preferred. Must possess valid license for
operating motor vehicles in Massachusetts. Must be
self-confident and able to exercise sound judgment and
tact. $10.00 hourly, no benefits.
10-02-05 – 64014 Seasonal Shorebird Specialist
(Sandy Neck), Marine & Environmental Affairs: Technical work assessing
and monitoring shorebird nesting activity at Sandy Neck and
associated sites. Advises full time staff of the MEA
Division on specific management practices to safeguard the
Town's interests in managing threatened species. Regulatory
and technical work monitoring beach use for compliance with
regulations governing the Sandy Neck Barrier Beach including
site specific rules, applicable town ordinances and state
and federal laws. REQUIRED TO WORK ALL WEEKENDS AND
HOLIDAYS THROUGHOUT TERM OF EMPLOYMENT, and a variety of
shifts, many beginning before 7:00 a.m. May be subjected to
extremes of weather. High School graduation with college
level coursework in biology, wildlife management, ecology,
or related field. Experience in shorebird protection
efforts, resource management, security, or nature education
is preferred. Certification in First Aid and C.P.R.
required; L.G.T., First Responder, Wilderness, or other
advanced medical certification preferred. Must possess
valid license for operating motor vehicles in
Massachusetts. Must be skilled in the operation of All
Terrain Vehicles (A.T.V.s) over varied terrain. Must be
self-confident and able to exercise sound judgment and

10-02-09 – 64103 Seasonal Gate Attendants (Sandy Neck), Marine &
Environmental Affairs:
Supports
overall beach operation by greeting the public, providing
information, collecting fees, monitoring traffic and
maintaining security. May be subjected to extremes of
weather. REQUIRED TO WORK ALL WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
THROUGHOUT TERM OF EMPLOYMENT. High School diploma.

10-02-10 – 64104 Seasonal Gate Supervisor, (Sandy Neck), Marine &
Environmental Affairs: Seeks an
individual who will deal with site safety and proper
coverage of site, and who will conduct financial oversight
and personnel supervision of seasonal staff, implement
policies imposed by the MEA division, and manage specific
tasks conducted by fee collection personnel. Community CPR
and First Aid and supervisory experience required. May be
subjected to extremes of weather. REQUIRED TO WORK ALL
WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS THROUGHOUT TERM OF EMPLOYMENT.
$13.25 hourly, no benefits.
10-02-11 – 64105 Seasonal Pumpout Operator (Sandy Neck), Marine &
Environmental Affairs:
Administers portable
pumpout program: drives 4X4 vehicle to remote locations on
Sandy Neck, portable toilet pumpout and cleaning, stocks
portable toilets with supplies, disposes waste at the waste
water treatment facility. Determines supply needs and
reports to the Park Manager for purchasing. Maintains
record of all pumpout and cleaning activities. Provides
weekly report to the Park Manager. Must be able to perform
general maintenance and mechanical repair work. High School
diploma and minimum one year experience with pumpout
equipment and 4X4 beach driving. Valid MA drivers license.
CPR certification required. Required to work a variety of
shifts, some beginning before 7:00 a.m. REQUIRED TO WORK
ALL WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS THROUGHOUT TERM OF EMPLOYMENT.
$14.50 hourly, no benefits.
