09-03-01 71001 Assistant Director of Public Works, DPW –
Administration and Technical Support:
Administrative, technical, budgeting, procurement, contract
administration and supervisory responsibilities in planning,
directing and managing the operations of the Department of
Public Works; all other related work as assigned. BS degree
in civil engineering and/or BS/MS degree in Business
Administration or Public Administration, Engineering
Management; more than 8 years of progressively responsible
experience in municipal public works operations and
management including construction, repair and maintenance of
roads, buildings, grounds and other facilities, four of
which were in a principal supervisory capacity; or any
equivalent combination of education and experience. Class D
driver’s license is required. Massachusetts Certified
Public Purchasing Official preferred. Requires advanced
comprehensive technical, practical and theoretical knowledge
of the materials, methods and techniques relative to public
works projects and public works financing, budget
formulation, human resources management, and demonstrated
working knowledge of local and state government procurement
law and administration. Ability to organize and develop a
budget for operations and capital projects and to oversee
and provide direction for special engineering
studies/projects. Ability to plan, assign and supervise
work of groups of employees engaged in a variety of public
works construction and maintenance operations and to make
financial, technical and non-technical decisions within
those projects. Ability to make financial, technical and
non-technical presentations before organizations or groups
of interested parties. Ability to establish and maintain
good interdepartmental and public relations at all levels
and to make presentations before organizations or groups of
interested parties. Proficiency in the use of computers
including word processing, spreadsheets and database.
Proficiency in the use of but not limited to personal
computers and associated software including word processing,
spreadsheets, data base management, graphic presentations,
geographic mapping, accounting and procurement. Salary
Range $84,406.13 - $91,363.91 + benefits Closes 2/12/10

– 76017 Temporary Assistant Maintenance Mechanic, Water
Pollution Control:
Skilled technical and
manual work in the maintenance and repair of wastewater
treatment plant and collection system; all other duties as
assigned. High school diploma supplemented by additional
courses or vocational training in mechanical or electrical
maintenance; more than three years experience in wastewater
treatment operations or related activities; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Hydraulic license
and CDL Class B drivers license required. A grade 4
Massachusetts Wastewater Operator's license required. CPR
and First Aid administration certificate preferred.
Collections system certificate preferred. Knowledge of
wastewater treatment plant operations. Working knowledge of
tools and maintenance testing equipment used in the
operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment
facilities, as well as chemicals, hazards, and applicable
regulations pertaining to pollution control. Ability
to assist in the maintenance of diverse facilities and
equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
and perform heavy physical labor under adverse weather
conditions. Ability to operate heavy equipment, and to
conduct routine laboratory tests. Temporary assignment up
to six months. $21.04 hourly, no benefits Open to
